Today was the State Road Race Championships and it did not disappoint. Not only was the course longer than previous years, but the weather would make things interesting. Here are the reports lap by lap for my race.
Lap 1- Sat pretty and did nothing to see the front.
Lap 2- Chris (my teammate) attacked and got a gap, so I sat on the front and slowed things down for him.
Lap 3- all together and the fireworks began. A break of 2 easily rolled off and stayed away. While this was being done I got in a 2 man break with a South Lyon guy who obviously does not know how to work well in a break. He was pulling through trying to show me he was in better condition, little did he know he would finish behind me.
Lap 4- after being brought back I stayed active and got off the front again for a longer break.
Lap 5- Chaos ensued with 12 miles to go, and it was obvious that no one wanted to let me get any open road. Torrential downpours made things dicey so I sat up with 400 meters to go. Still ended up 15th which tells you how the race was shattered.
After the race I spoke with the promoter and rae official. We were instructed that in case of lightning the race would be neutralized. I assumed that the lightning that was prevelant in the last lap would make this statement true. I was wrong and what I thought would be a 4th place finish turned into the race official doing what he would like and did not seem to care about the riders well being. This is my opinion and should not be taken as bashing. I know when conditions are dangerous and this was above any conditions that I have ever ridden in.
Total miles for the day: 103
Place:15th
feeling after realizing that the field knows who I am: angered, but surprised.

Doug,
Please stop giving out my blog page to others. This is here for my family and friends to read. This is not a webpage that deems much notice from anyone. It is only here so I dont have to tell everyone how my races went.
